Veteran Educational Benefits
Cal Poly is approved to certify certain educational benefits for veterans and their dependents. Specific criteria must be met in order to qualify for benefits. To find information for federal educational benefits, go to www.gibill.va.gov.
Cal Poly is approved by the California State Approving Agency for Veterans Education (CSAAVE) operating under contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA). Under the authority of federal law, Title 38 United States Code, the CSAAVE operates as part of the government of the State of California to approve or disapprove veterans' education and training programs, prevent abuses, and promote quality in veterans' education by evaluating and monitoring education and training programs.
Approved programs include undergraduate, graduate degree and teacher certification programs. Programs must be approved by the CSAAVE and Dept of Veterans Affairs. Courses that are not part of an approved curriculum in these programs are not eligible for benefits.
Cal Poly’s veteran coordinator/certifying official has been delegated the authority to sign enrollment certifications, other certification documents, and to confirm and audit enrollment activity to ensure that benefit disbursements are in compliance with Title 38.
To initiate or transfer federal educational benefits, please contact the office of the Registrar and ask for the veteran coordinator at 805.756.2531 or email to email@example.com.
